A segment AB is divided in the ratio 3 : 2, the point of division being (0, -3). IF A is the point (-6, -9). Find B.
Solution: --A(-6, -9)--------------------------------------------C(0, -3)--------------B(h, k)--
Let B be (h, k)
(3h - 12) / (3 + 2) = 0
Therefore, 3k - 12 = 0
k = 4
(3k - 18) / (3 + 2) = -3. Therefore, 3k - 18 = -15
i.e. 3k = 3 or k = 1
Therefore, the point B is (h, k) = (4, 1)
