Problem: If 7/8 of a number is 3-1/2 more than 3/4 of the same number, what is the number?

Solution: The difference between 7/8 times of a number and 3/4times of a number is 7/8 – 3/4 = 1/8 times of the number.

1/8 of the number is 3-1/2

∴ That number is 3-1/2 X 8 = 7/2 X 8 = 28
